Remember the story in the TX Tribune that the TX delegation hated Cruz after the non-endorsement speech? Don't buy it:

Dave, I was there, and the article is a flat-out lie. The night before there was grumbling from some of the Texas delegation about his failing to endorse, so I was afraid he was going to get booed.

Instead, Sen. Cruz was roundly, and enthusiastically received with a long, standing ovation. After that he received many more throughout the course of his talk.

He was being filmed by many news organizations, and had the courage to take questions from the crowd, many of whom had been wooed to the Trump side.

Rarely does one get the chance to witness firsthand such principled bravery. I was privileged to be present to bear witness.

Svitek has done a great job throughout this primary. But I saw some adjectives in there that were curiously tilted toward the anti-Cruz position.

For example, Svitek called the booing, "thunderous." It was not thunderous, it was simply about what you'd expect, given the distribution of Trumpkins vs. Cruz supporters. Neither was it shocking in any way, given how Trump and his cult followers have treated Cruz all along.

Also, the "hostile crowd" comment about the delegation breakfast seems to fly in the face of several reports about how great the delegation breakfast was with Cruz there.

I'm not at all shocked that the "prominent" state GOP people mentioned were indeed vocal about climbing on the Trump train. It's always about positioning, and they think it will help them in the next election. I suspect it will have the opposite effect.

I think the fun thing was that Svitek named names. These people should be remembered in the next election:

* Carl Tepper - "former president [..] Texas Republican County Chairmen's Association"

* State Sen. Charles Perry of Lubbock

* Anna Maria Farias, vice chairman of the Bexar County GOP.

* Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick

* State Sen. Paul Bettencourt of Houston

* U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions of Dallas

* Former Gov Rick Perry

[ If Dan Patrick or any of these run for statewide office again, he won't get my vote. ]

To me, that Repube Convention was set up to kill off (politically speaking) Ted Cruz. Think about the sequence of recent events: 1) Cruz suspends his campaign after getting trounced in Indiana. He's not sure he'll even speak at the Convention. 2) Trumps has meeting(s) with Repube establishment in DC. 3) Trump contacts Cruz and asks him to speak at Con. Says no endorsement necessary. 4) Cruz and Trump are in contact several days before Con and Cruz reiterates he's not going to endorse. Trump say, in effect: "No problema". Line up of Con speakers is heavily laced with Establishment Repubes. 5) On the day of Cruz' speech, Fox (and other) networks are heavily pushing for Cruz endorsement, asking the question of the day: "Will he, or won't he endorse"? 6) Senator Ted Cruz of Texas addresses the Repube National Convention Delegates and the World giving on of the finest orations on Liberty in recent history, if not all time (my opinion only). For approximately 7/8 of the speech, he is wildly cheered throughout the hall. 7) Shortly before wrapping up, the New York delegation starts to heckle him into formally endorsing Trump. Heckling turns into loud boos and it's unclear (at least to me) how widespread the negativity toward Cruz is, but he leaves the stage to a crescendo of noise. 8) Fox News talent immediately start trashing Cruz with Dr Krauthammer saying we had just witnessed "the longest suicide note in history" (or something to that effect). 9) Following morning, Cruz explains his non-endorsement to the Texas Delegation re-iterating he was not going to trash Trump (and he didn't in his previous night's speech) 10) Trump goes back on the attack against Cruz on Friday morning for an undetermined reason. Why? Primary campaign is over?
I believe Trump set Cruz up with the help of the Repube establishment
to end to isolate and end Ted Cruz. These thought were going through my mind as I watched the Convention Center come apart at the seems last Wed. night. (A lot of this crystallized with LevinTV on Thurs & Fri nights. Levin's great at crystallizing one's thinking.) I honestly don't know how this fall's election will turn out. The Screeching Bitch From Hell is such a destestable individual, an equally destestable lying bastard may defeat her. To quote a line from a great movie: "Sometimes you get a pooch that can't be screwed". (Right Stuff).
