Kevin,

Could you go into alittle more detail on your analysis. I do a little TA but am not very adept at it.

I am having a little understanding how AMAT is going to lose 30% of it's current value over the next 2 weeks just on a technical basis.

It looks almost like you drew channels on the lows and highs over the last few months to derive your support resistence values. But my understanding is that these recent lows were brought on by bad news which overwelms most TA. I'm always looking to learn more, so a clearer explanation would help me out quite a bit.
Thanks.

Interesting article in yesterdays LA Times where Standard's & Poors Sector Strategist notes that AMAT should be a core holding in a portfolio, along with INTC, CSCO, and MSFT. I like the smaller guys myself, but then again also missed the boat to some extent by not buying the large cap players.

Lehman's U.S. Market Strategist is also bullish on tech stocks in the article.

Kevin, from the looks of the chart...it looks like there was good support at the 26 level....since then AMAT has made higher highs and higher lows...that is a bullish indicator. In the shorterm at least.

However, the one concern I have is that the volume on the move up from 26 has been well below average...to me that indicates that this move up does not have a strong foundation and that any bad news could have a significant impact on the stock.

Then again...the holiday season may be to blame for the low volume. So, at this point I am waiting till next week to determine what is going on technically in this stock.
