I had a boss who at 6'4" joked he is of the perfect height; anyone taller is monstrous and anyone shorter is a midget. Something similar goes on with some people. They believe anyone less refined is a bubba and anyone more refined is a sissy. With me, I don't care what someone is where those qualities mostly affect them. I do care a lot about what someone does where those actions affect me. I couldn't care less if the next president is a man, woman, or transgender. I do care a lot about what he/she will do in their capacity as the president.

Clearly most people don't see it this way. There are a ton of people on both sides who talk about who/what their favorite candidate is, where those quality at most tangentially indicate what he/she will do as a president and more often they are immaterial all together. Saying Hillary is a woman or Trump is a great negotiator falls into that category. Being a woman means nothing about how she would govern. Being a great negotiator (even if true) means nothing because presidents hire professionals to lead negotiating teams. Neither indicates qualities I would want in a leader: mature judgement, courage, patience, ability to see both the big picture and pay attention to details, etc.
