A month ago, I would have agreed with you 100% on this issue, and that belief was one of the reasons I felt free to post anything and everything that I could find about Fibre Channel and Ancor. The point that I missed, and maybe you did too, is that we were almost exclusively discussing potential ANCOR customers. Brocade, or anyone else could just read the thread, and call the customers that Ancor was in the process of selling to, and attempt to get that business. In some cases, I think that is exactly what happened. So, in essense, we were feeding Ancor's customer list to their competition.

At this point in time, I believe there are a number of OEMs that are negotiating with Ancor, Brocade, Arcxel, and the other FC players, for their 1998 Fibre Channel products. If volume shipments are to begin in the second half of 1998, it seems logical that those negotiations are taking place NOW. I also believe that the total number of OEMs is limited, although growing. For a company like Ancor, each and every OEM deal is important. It isn't critical that they get them all, just that they get some. (Look at what a single OEM, Sequent, did for Brocade.)
