Maurice , you write:

One big education mistake these days is to treat boys and girls the same. Girls do better because their brains are fully developed 3 years before boys. So they are filling universities. But boys do better in the high end extreme because they get another 3 years of development time. Of course individuals should all have an individually tailored education but that's not how schools and communism works.

Boys can be better turned into silk purses than can girls even though boys are more like pigs ears when 13 years old while young women look like silk purses. Numerate people will understand that that's a statistical statement and your mileage will vary. Not all boys can be turned into silk purses. Apart from age of maturity, another problem for girls is that they are missing the maniacal DNA that drives boys to compete furiously even at risk of death. Girls are more sensible as shown by the Darwin Award numbers, prison attendance and common experience.

The three year advantage you say girls have may in the case of some NA inner cities be diminished by the number of single mother families.

Children of single mothers tend to start puberty earlier than children whose fathers are present. This would seem to an evolutionary effect.

Stress has similar effect.

Thus at younger age children are being subject to large inputs of estrogen and testosterone without the compensation of perhaps some years further intellectual and emotional experience. They will be more assertive and aggressive than children their age growing in less difficult circumstances.

Children in such circumstances probably require very structured educational requirements if they're to be educated to their potential whatever it be.

As you say, the educational treatment of girls and boys can not be the same, especially in the context of some inner city schools.

I haven't pushed myself to investigate closely the difference in educational outcomes of black students who went to New York high schools in the 1950s compared to those of today but given the social circumstances now, I'm sure the former did better.

Much of what is interpreted as a racial difference in IQ, will, in the end I expect be only a difference of very few generations in the right environment. It will be found in the end to be more a matter of residence in the right class holding advantageous attitudes for two or three generations. The reason: the right conditions, starting in the womb, lead to a cascade of processes resulting in neurological development better suited to the modern world with its requirement for formal abstract thinking. You heard it here first, Maurice! It's a class problem.

It may seem I'm being deliberately provocative but how else can it be accounted for that IQ in the Western world is rising? Don't assume that evolutionary processes necessarily take a long time, especially in the case of humans and mental capacity....
