I think that those who can't imagine the uses to which software will be put are missing the whole thing.

I believe Mhrvold is possibly the one person to believe more than anyone else on this point.

I also was totally intrigued with Gates point "imagine...information was just totally available. All the information you wanted about what is going on with customers, the market, resources, and possible partnerships was totally available to you. In 10 years, you'll just take it for granted."

This will totally change the way every company does business. As a small businessman in a large business (chemicals), I have long used the power of computers (and therefore of information) to my great advantage as a competitor. With such power as Gates suggests available, the surviving businesses in ten years in all business sectors will be those who utilize the available technology to gain competitive advantage over those who adapt slowly. This process will drive business use of new technology forward like nothing we have ever seen so far.
