Pierre-X - Re: "Here is an article I wrote regarding the short term and long term prospects of the PC, "

That was very good article - well thought out and presented.

I would have given Apple Computer a bit more credit (and a bit more details/accuracy).

Your conclusions and forecast should be pretty accurate. In 5 or 6 thousand years of recorded history, I don't recall any stage where technical advancement was no longer required - although many, then as now, have always predicted that the world has achieved/invented all there needs to be achieved and/or invented.

The lack of vision has always proven to be an "Achilles heel".

Pierre, excellent piece, I enjoyed reading it also. One thing I would like to have seen you address as a potential blockbuster user app, is video emails, and video phones via the net. I don't believe it will be one of those developements which happens all at once. However, similar to email, it will slowly build momentum until it becomes as common place as sending regular email.

A catchy term will probably be coined, maybe something like, eclip.

The technology and price are approaching, as Andrew Grove has said, an "inflection point" IMHO.

Only the future will tell for sure.

Michael

Pierre,
Good article. One thing I would do is expand on AUI to include video as well. Apps include videoconferencing for business, video emails/meeting for home users, video clips for education, etc. And video does require more processing power for compression/decompression before transmission.

PX,

Feedback is welcome

Is it really an analysis, or a wishfull thinking of an Intel investor?
