The market for lighting LED's is brutally competitive. Most players in the industry are hurting. Yes the volumes are there, but the margins are slim. The more attractive market are high power LED that go into lasers. As these LED lasers get more powerful, they replace the much mor expensive gas (CO2 Argon-ion etc) lasers. Those high tech products and it's growth markets and the margins are much more attractive. This is the market where the large players like Osram are playing.
