My new year's resolution is to short or buy puts on a sector when I see it get as absurdly valued as the semi-equipment sector was this summer. In the few years that I have been following the market I have never seen those kinds of valuations on stocks. I couldn't believe it. Instead of doing something I just stared in astonishment. Next time I will buy long term puts or short those stocks. If I had done that, I could have made a small fortune, on virtually any stock in this sector. Wall street usually overshoots on the upside but I don't remember seeing such a crazy overshoot before. Next time I will be ready for it. Resolved!
