Yes, I know what you are going through.

When that happened to me, I started selecting them one (or two) at a time until I found the one that was causing the problem. Often I could make an intelligent guess by looking at the size, or description of each update. Then I would avoid that particular update until all of the other updates had been installed. I would finally select the problem update last, and it would still take a long time to install, but would eventually get installed.
