Please re-read my original post to you ... "But more importantly, the higher operating voltage will cause the K6 to be a lower speed CPU for both notebook and desktop operation as compared to Intel offerings."

Using a higher voltage for a process generation is a "no win" solution
and done by AMD because of lack of device/process expertise. Remember,
the two equation that we are trying to optimize for a process generation
are:

Power ~ CV^2f ... C=Capacitance, V=Voltage, f=Frequency
Performance ~ I/(CV) ... I=FET Idsat, C=Capacitance, V=Voltage

Increasing the voltage for a process generation is never a good idea !!

Th significance is that ALL MACHINES HAD AN INTEL 1.8 volt PROCESSOR!
