Not really. Now, no doubt that methane was released. That is what happens when you heat clathrates. But methane has a short residence period in the atmosphere. Measured in years, not decades. But, guess what happens when it oxidizes?

It becomes CO2!

But the question remains, what heated the clathrates?

Think about it...
