My biggest problem with Trump is that I see nothing in him that recognizes we are broke. That said, I recognize anyone saying we are broke and need austerity is not going to win anything.

Would you kindly list a few of your disagreements with Trumps positions?

I generally disagree with him on trade. Many more jobs were lost to automation than to China, and nothing will bring those back. I think the evidence is overwhelming that increased foreign trade does far more good than harm.

You mention SS. We need a politician to admit that it is a ponzi scheme and with demographic trends inevitably headed for collapse. Trump is more likely to be able to do that than any career politician. I think the best solution is to gradually raise normal retirement to at least 70, perhaps 3-6 months/year. When SS was introduced, the eligibility age was slightly above male life expectancy. Now most people can expect to receive benefits for about 15 years. That is not sustainable.

Like every other politician, Trump's tax and spending plans will increase the debt significantly. They are also disturbingly vague. I would like to see some detail, and a plan to begin reducing debt.
