Anyone criticizing Trump's 95 tax return is actually criticizing the 95 tax law, not Trump. Unless they are arguing that people should ignore the law and grossly overpay their income taxes. Which is asinine.

i believe it was a NOL (net operating loss) occurring in 1995 (bill clinton was president) during the big commercial RE

absolutely was handled correctly on the tax return....big nothingburger as per usual from the NYT....reeking of desperation

Simply put - ones's impact has many components.
Facts don't matter and relatively few people understand taxes as well as you obviously do. NYT says he didn't pay any taxes for 18 years, and too many voters will believe it.
