Rich,

What is really funny is how they measure the deficit. The current (temporary) Social Security and Medicare type surpluses get used to create the budget surplus.

But generating huge unfunded liabilities that total last I heard, about 3 times our accumulated fiscal deficits.

They're what scare me.

The "balanced budget" signed in 1997 actually used the windfall revenues they're currently getting to increase spending more than was generally reported by the accommadating Washington press.

It was truly a horrible deal and confirmed for me that we need to get all of them out of Washington. Not just the Democrats. Although they are my first choice.

I am really a fatalist on what will happen in this country over the next 10 or 15 years.

The last half hour of trading will be important for NTN today. $1 3/16 would be a good sign, and a slip back to $1 1/16 (asked) would be a bad one.
