I'm a contrarian, and got into APM (dish drive sector)
because i thought the shorts were wrong. it turned out
that they were right, and i was wrong. lost a bundle.

-- I think the shorts are in trouble. I see nothing wrong with any of the announcements Vivus has made. All companies incur growth pains. Vivus is no different.

-- If Vivus announced, in advance, that the 4th 1/4 '97 & 1st 1/4 '98 would be down quarters, due to plant expansions, I don't think we would have seen a move from $40 to $10.

-- When the shorts realize this they're going to try and cover. But as you saw on Friday, with relatively light volume of only 900k shares, the price went up 5% or so. So I don't think the shorts have even thought about covering at this point. Wait until the price goes to $15+, and then things will get interesting.
