Pierre-X,

I thought that genius was defined in the books as a kind of global intelligence (g-factor). What I am seem to be hearing (not just from you) is that the demand is really for really talented one arm paper hangers. I would not call these people geniuses. There is no global intelligence apparent in your description. Rather, this shows a lack of imagination and creative intelligence.

It seems that you are actually describing an "idiot savant" instead of a real genius?

I personally reserve the term genius for people who have a creative capability in one or more areas ( more the Greek notion) as opposed to someone who is facile at writing code fast because that is all they do, i.e., a coder. Coding is constructive but it is rarely creative.

Regards,

Jim Kelley
