According to your narrow definition, a few famous historical people might not be geniuses. These come to mind: Karl Gauss the Bernoullis Thomas Hardy Hannibal Barca Frank Lloyd Wright Would you call these people idiot savants? You said: Coding is constructive but it is rarely creative. This shows that you are obviously not a coder. In fact it shows you don't understand the true nature of constructivity, which is intimately tied to creativity. The contributions of the people named above--and creative people throughout history--impact our lives today in myriad ways precisely because of the constructive nature of their work. PX
