Is that on copper (sounds completely bogus, or at least completely impractical) or on fiber (sounds possible, but unlikely)?

(Polarization does work for microwaves, etc. (Right?))

<< I agree. Know of any current developments?>>

No. If throwing MPEG1 video over 2 MB/sec is pretty doable, and we can throw bucketloads with VDSL at short distances, maybe the answer lies somewhere in tweeking VDSL and MPEG2 just a little bit more. Unfortunately, a golden egg that no one will find soon, in my opinion.

extending the two-dimensional view of a signal into three dimensions by exploiting
the polarization of the electromagnetic carrier to allow several signals to be
broadcast over a single frequency (not compression, WDM or multiplexing). This
also allows lower transmission power due to significantly reduced noise levels. (This
conversely extends the reach at a given transmission power).>>

Sounds like WDM a little bit, even if it isn't. Over what medium?

No offense, but in my opinion, you always seem like that 'never' guy in the back. :-)
It's good to see you say its not a matter of IF for adsl. I tend to keep forgetting that one for some reason. I think most everyone agrees on that here.

Adsl may keep getting pushed out in some places, but I am actually surprised that there are already a couple services offering it in places out here south of san fran.
This is a fact, not a myth. It does work some places, I assume. I get the feeling from your posts sometimes that adsl service does not exist yet and that it wont be available until 2010.

Do you think the people at TXN were complete idiots for buying a tiny co. right now with hardly any revenues? They did spend a lot of money in cash for something that you think will never get anywhere. :)

ALL IMHO
