John, << ATHM poor opening 98 performance >>
I started tracking ATHM a few weeks ago to consider adding to my
portfolio for 1998. It looked to me that yesterday's tech market was
one that money was taken from the stronger performers in 1997 and
dumped into the dogs, plenty of which I own. :-(
I need a couple of these dogs to move a little higher before I sell
and pick up ATHM. I hope ATHM doesn't rise with them. ATHM look's good
to me. Working with TCI and now TCI working with MSFT.
Larry

I wonder if the cable companies have any idea how good they have it right now. With the recent court ruling overturning key provisions of the Telecom. Act, we're going to see a huge battle between the local and long distance carriers. This will distract the telcos from competing with @Home, and give the cable cos. a great opportunity to
take firm reigns of high speed access.

P.S. For those of you thinking Microsoft will compete with @Home after this billion $$$, think again. @Home is mainly there for bandwidth. This is how they will make their money not content. Microsoft will be one of several providing different kinds of
content (i.e. WebTV,...) over the pipeline into people's homes.
