Steve, the best buy for money now is a CPQ p233 for about $1299.
Tell your mom not to buy a pc now.
Instead buy 1299 times 2 = $2600 worth of cpq stk instead.
Buy the cpq on margin.
That could be worth $4000 by the end of April.
Then sell the stk for $4k. and you will be able to buy a p266 cpq for $1100 that is loaded and she'll need a 17" monitor for $500.
so, that is 1600. she'll then have the 4k to buy it with so that is
2400 profit she has...
then there is sales tax<ggg>
Save this post to see how close I am.
Unless the market crashes..then it will be real close.

>Staples has no 4824s in the state of Pa.<

You might want to try this site to compare prices and check for availability:
computers.com

It shows Micro Warehouse selling for $1,399 the
PRESARIO 4824 P2/233 6.5/32/24X 56K. If you drill down the Micro Warehouse link, you'll notice that the system is coded REF, for refurbished, though.

Steve,
#1 - Have Mom try CompUSA in the King of Prussia Valley Forge Shopping Center on 202, if it is not too far. I know they had at least the 4808 last Sunday.
#2 - If you have a method to calculate opportunity cost & how to eliminate it, you have a very bright future:>)
#3 - Some shares so low you don't want to know. Others - 200 $75 caught on a put before expiration. Many at $64 day after the Asian Flu hit. Still in the profit column when all shares are averaged together. Oh, $34 is my break even.

So come on in and enjoy the rollercoaster ride.
