I love that...If I ever post here again it will always be off topic. If we were all to do that it would be a marvelous thread, methinks.

I must admit that the pulp version of Roget does not use imply as a synonym for infer. The Thesauri available on various websites are of no use to a serious questioner.

So I must infer that the implied validity of Roget is overstated....either that or I could be in error. Now, should that be I should imply that the inferred validity of Roget is overstated?

In any event, Roget was probably French anyway and had no idea how to put on a butterfly spread.
