With the CES show coming out and the current economic
situation in East, is there any possibility we may see lower
prices on Digital televisions...just to get things going?
If enough digital stations get up and recordable DVD starts
rolling, could we see another situation similar to the VCR
phenomenon? My thoughts are we will see this, only it may
be a bit farther down the road than I anticipate.

Be well,

Hey Don, long time - good to talk with you. I've been lurking on other threads and generally keeping quiet for a few months. I have to admit that the 26 applications at the FCC and Dielectric's claim on their webpage that they have 50 clients in engineering caught me off guard - the DTV market is developing faster than I thought. I figured we'd have to get into the next fiscal year before things loosened up.

Like you, I figure all the Harris antennas referenced in the DTV applications to date are backed by a Harris transmitter. It's hard to figure out from the FCC's database who is behind the other antenna makes except for an educated guess based on the ERP on the application. The average ERP for the 26 is a bit under 500KW with plenty of 1MW plants - regardless of the antenna type I figure the 500KW+ are done with something around the 2-30KW IOT's referenced on Dielectric's webpage (http://www.dielectric.com/move.htm) and have been sourced by HRS or STM transmitters since ACRO hasn't announced any high power sales. I know Itelco has a few LP's but haven't the foggiest on who has the other LP transmitters behind the apps - any guesses?

Hey, just combine Karl and your post and we've got one great rumor - ACRO will announce a HP DTV sale at CES next week. That would be good for a point or two points. Haven't seen the typical, pre-release insider volume and normal 1/2 point move that would substantiate a good press release. Not going to believe it until I see it.
