My only interest is in communication. A couple of thoughts. First, remember the Democratic Party is not monolithic. We have a revolution going on within our party between the Bernie Sanders people and the establishment Democrats. We just had a hell of a War in our party where the left wing tried to oust Hillary. We liberal Democrats like myself, fought against her tooth and nail because we felt she was in bed with the plutocrats. My entire family and most of my friends donated heavily to Bernie Sanders and I voted for him in the Democratic caucus in my state. And by the way at least 80% of the people in my Democratic caucus were for Bernie and only 20% for Hillary. Bernie is the new face of the Democratic party, not Hillary. She is dead and gone. Number two, we have a bit of a dilemma with regard to conservative Republicans. We want to be friends, but how do with deal with the issues below? And that has to do with facts. Liberal Democrats try to live according to facts and logic. For example, to question evolution is no different than questioning if the earth is round. One cannot have an argument about whether the earth is round or not. A person that believes that the earth is flat, cannot say that you're not listening to my side of the story. There is no side to their story. And the same is true of anthropogenic global warming. When 97% of all the top atmospheric scientists in the world, and virtually every major university in the world routinely teach global warming as true, based on the scientific evidence, that is a fact. There is no real other side to the story and we need to get about addressing it. Our children's lives depend on it. It is serious. I remember seeing in 2012 and 2016 moderators ask all of the Republican nominees if they believed in evolution and if they believe in global warming. The only person to raise his hand was John Huntsman of Utah, and he felt he had to add the comment:" call me crazy". The Republican Party thinks that anybody that believes in evolution and global warming are crazy. What is completely baffling to all of we liberal Democrats is how can something that is taught as fact in every major university in the world be seen as crazy by one of the two major political parties. Every Democratic nominee believes in both and has for several presidential runs. How do people discuss the differences when one side is obviously correct and the other side is obviously wrong. Can you compromise on whether the earth is round or flat? But I do wish that we could sit down and chat with each other more, because liberal Democrats really do worry about everyone. That is the reason I've been a yellow dog Democrat my entire life. But we also cannot indulge racism, or sexism, or gay bashing. Those are like a round earth, there is no argument on the other side. There is no valid argument for racism, sexism or gay bashing. But the Republicans openly court racism., sexism and gay bashing. Being gay i snot a choice and letting them marr is a civil right. And their behavior is intentional, not a mistake, so how do we deal with that? We cannot over look that or compromise. Slavery and segregation were non negotiable. I have spent 50 years evaluating both Republicans and Democrats and I just find the Democrats to be more realistic and kinder. Simple as that. << Maybe it could be applied to a lot of situations but I applied it to the history of the Democratic party. Decades ago, I remember very specifically hearing liberals say, "all we ask is that you have an open mind," when challenging the corrupt establishment. Now I hear them demanding no challenges be made to the messages of the Democratic message, and allegiance to the obviously corrupt Establishment. I remember a media that held reverence for none and skepticism for all in power, now they are subservient to the Democratic Plutocracy. When the authorities threatened liberals, I heard "peace, love, and hope brothers and sisters." All has been replaced by a willingness to march in lock step conformity. From your posting history, it seems you are old enough to remember this and to observe the truth in what I am saying. I am suggesting that you (Democrat masses) return to a gentler and kinder discourse. Reacting hysterically to everything right wing leaves moderate conservatives (remember the never Trumpers) with no where to turn. It leaves down to earth people (like farmers and blue collar workers who used to be mostly Dems) out in the cold. Start communicating with the masses more and reacting to extreme right wingers less. Start paving a road people feel good about traveling on. What is it you don't get about that. I thought it was good advice. The current right wing extremist euphoria is kind of scary to me, but it is not as bad as the defense of the indefensible and blind allegiance to a corrupt establishment I saw coming from the left. I am glad to be registered as unaffiliated in times like this.
