Jack,

By Internet hype, I mean all the stocks that have anything to do with the Internet in 1995 went through the roof and come crashing afterwards. Some of those still survive or are doing very well today. Internet is a viable technology and business but saying that Internet will take over the world soon, and any company involved in Internet will make tons of money, is hype.

Likewise, I don't deny the Y2K problems in mainframe and embedded systems. But saying that they are everywhere, and the world will end in year 2000, and all those firms will make tons of money, are hype. I maintain that a company cannot make money fixing Y2K problems in embedded systems. Companies fixing Y2K problems in mainframe make money because it's easier to fix and there are more problems in mainframe than in embedded syste ms

I got to go now. So later.

Mike.

Jack,
I linked #8289 to another thread because your points
about Java were pertinent to that thread.
If this is a problem please inform me.
Should have asked first, sorry.
