Since I only caught three "F"s (effs?) out of six the first time I tried, I'd like to believe you are correct.

I've seen other vision "tests" intended to determine whether one is prone to skipping words. For example:

PARIS IN THE
THE SPRING

From memory, say out loud that last sentence. Did you say two "the"s?

On a related note, I find that when I proof read my own writing I am much more adept at finding what I would consider mistakes then when reading the prose of others. Since I tend to skim more often than read most things, I guess I am more prone to "automatically" make certain assumptions about intent rather than dwell on the exact particulars of a sentence. I used to call myself a "lazy" reader but now, thanks to you, I'll just call myself "wizened". Ummm... you did intend to mean "wise" and not "shriveled", didn't you? (gg)
