I disagree.. Competitiveness is what advances technology.. We have survived and dominated for TWO REASONS Charles.. We compete with each other.. We cooperate with each other... let us not start denying evolution... We still are searching for the proper balance ... Taking care of the frail of body but strong of mind helps our tech.. Hawking sure comes to mind... Taking care of the challenged P or M maintains our species empathy (one of our strongest survival traits.. Despite what survivalists say and human life in general) ) ... if it came down to ants or us.. humans win.. empathy is no small part of that.. Higher order thinking does not even recognize those drives Yu are making an assumption... That is not a truth.. Higher order thinking takes ALL into account ... else it is a sham.. Period. existential counter culture has been about. Define that.. We are NOT existential beings.. we corporeal animals at the top of the food chain.. PART but only part of that dominance is the result of our capacity for existential thought...
