Oh, that kind of thinking is still around. It's just no pol espouses it, although they may be aware of the problem. Climate change is just a symptom of the underlying problem of too many industrialized humans. As the rest of the globe catches up to the west, the problem will just intensify, probably until it becomes self-limiting. It bad for us, but it's extinction for any animal that doesn't serve some need for us, or feed off us somehow. As a nature lover, I see this as a crime. If we had 8 billion deer on the planet, we'd be mowing them down with machine guns.
