Blue buys your bs.

Red does not.

If percentages mean that much to you then you have been hoisted on your own petard.

Okay you keep saying that.

I can objectify it.
Only 6% of scientists call themselves Republicans, 51% call themselves liberal and 80% lean Democratic.
PEW poll- you can google it
Why, do you suppose?

1) As in any field, the scientific field has a whole range of people with capabilities.

What would be more convincing might be statistics showing that those in the top of the field lean more to one side than the other.

2) Scientists - how well represented are the "hard" sciences or are the psychologists, sociologists, political scientists and so on (latter categories are probably more populous and thus more well represented and for various reasons tend to lean to the left).

3) Nuff said:

Now assuming that the polls are correct:

4) Logical fallacy - would you ask Einstein for marital or martial advice?
Oh, assume that he is still alive for that question :-)
Smart fellow, but he was divorced which does not preclude good advice but indicates that he might not give some; and I doubt if he knew Kung-Fu so learning that from Einstein would be quite entertaining but not otherwise useful.
How about - who would you prefer to fix your car, Einstein or the mechanic?
Note: Einstein might be an expert in theoretical and even experimental physics, but he might know nothing about car mechanics and mess up your car.

The logical fallacy is "appeal to authority" - when you are asking someone something out of their field.

All because many smart people eat Fruit Loops doesn't mean that there is something special about that cereal that will make you "smart".

5) Another Logical fallacy here - "bandwagon" - all the smart people are doing it, why not you?

Who knows - maybe scientists have though it through and liberal/democrat is far superior to whatever republicans have to offer. Maybe there are certain aspects to the right that turn them off so they go left. Maybe granting agencies lean left so it is advantageous to lean left.

But #4 & #5 above...

Please present a more convincing argument.

koan keeps asserting that only 6% of scientist are Republicans and 51% call themselves liberal.
HERE IS THE REST OF THE STORY. koan ask the question "Why, do you suppose?"
His question should be "Why do I suppose the Pew poll said it or why do I suppose it is true of all scientists?"
My answer is, " I do not believe it is true of all scientist but here is why I believe the Pew poll said it."
commentarymagazine.com

Stated another way. If I seek to prove AGW by the high percent of scientist who believe in AGW, I can take a poll and only ask scientist who I know believe in AGW if they believe in AGW. Pretty clever, eh?

If I wanted to put out a lie that 95% of scientist believed in God and only 5% did not. I would ask 95 scientist teaching at or affiliated with Evangelical Christian Colleges or Universities and 5 scientist at Harvard. That is what I would do if I was a lying crook who was without conscience or ethical standards.

If you want to find that only 6% of scientist are Republicans just ask only those scientist who say they believe in AGW. You see, AGW is not only debated as a scientific issue it is debated as a political issue.

Aw listen, you just cannot trust a Liberal/Progressive/Communist to ever tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Whatever they say is either an out right propaganda lie or tainted with a propaganda slant. So you can without hesitation ignore the rantings of koan because he is proven to be totally propagandised by the left.. If you so desire you can just dig a little deeper and find the truth of this every time.

koan needs to come out of the cave and stop being controlled by fears of the fantasy phantoms. Come out into the light of the glorious truth that can be found in clearly seeing the reality of the world around him.
