There is an upscale little grocery store / deli a block from my office where a lot of people who wouldn't be caught dead in Walmart shop. I've seen the owner in Walmart loading up on canned goods and front of store sale-items many times. Paying twice the money for a box of cornflakes doesn't make sense yet the smart-set does.
