These foundries do not have competitive .25um processes ... these processes have been optimized for the ASIC market, not the CPU business. NSM will be paying extra (versus lower cost in-house manufacturing) while getting lower performing CPU's. NSM will have the low performance, high cost market all to themselves!!

Even an un-optimized .25u process is a good start. Cyrix doesn't need to reach 450 MHz initially. 250 MHz to 300 MHz will do fine. MXi would be competitive even at 225 MHz. Over time, the process will be optimized.
