Thanks for your response on the cable modem. It is encouraging to hear from someone who is using it. The speed and unlimited connection are 2 definite advantages. I also read the following post from stak listing advantages and disadvantages. For me the advantages seemed to outweigh the disadvantages.

Re cable modem: I did a search yesterday and found one company that says only 2 cities in California have this product. What state do you live in and was this just one company's view? I also saw 3com has something. What brand do you use? TIA
