Philosophy that arose everywhere else is mere mysticism or platitudes about ethics, for the most part. Only in the West was philosophy, as thought of by the Greeks, an attempt to systematically understand reality and the proper way to live. The Greeks invented the objective view of the world that gave us science, history, mathematics, and medicine.
