More of the country by acres (which I also don't consider important), more of the country by states (more important than acres) about the same by number of people (the most important point in most cases). Diversity is complex itself and you could reasonably find a number of ways to paint either side as more diverse.

Personally, as I've already stated. My main take away is the country is roughly evenly divided. That's obviously a statement based on people not acres.

The connection between diversity and the electoral college is that it requires some diverse support across the nation. OTOH the states, while different from each other, are no so different that the winner of the popular vote is likely to not have diverse support.

Also the US wasn't named "the United States of America", by accident, the idea is that the states are important.

I don't have a problem in principle with either an electoral college system or straight popular vote for president.

I do wonder if the election results were the opposite, if Trump won the popular vote but lost the electoral vote, how many people who are now attacking the EC would be supporting it, and how many people now supporting it would be attacking it. I imagine quite a few.
