That is news to me. I was raised in the ALC. I knew some people who were Missouri Synod and they never said anything like that.

But I haven't had anything to do with the church since the 1970s. Maybe things are different now.

A few Lutherans may believe that. I've been both a Missouri synod and LCA Lutheran and never encountered
anything of that nature- ever. But I do know there are few extremely conservative Lutherans, including the Wisconsin synod who tend to lean in that direction...they see conservative Catholics as competition.

That is nothing, SDA's of which I was raised in, view the Pope as the Anti-Christ, and have an entire eschatology in which Catholics go to war against the true remnant of Christ (SDAs or course!) yada yada. This was actually a common sort of view among American Protestant Churches in the 1800's. Most of the other Churches have moved on, but the SDAs are kind of old fashioned, with a particular problem in that they (like the Mormons and a few other American religions) had their own prophet, a woman named Ellen G White, who wrote many (somewhat plagiarized, LOL!) books chock full of very specific details about all of this, so until they figure out how to jettison her as infallible, the albatross remains firmly affixed...

I didn't know that! I once knew an arch bishop of the Old Catholic Church who didn't regard Catholics as Christians because of their belief in Papal infallibility.
