>> But the 800 pound gorilla in the room, is the pervasive inequality. The control of our society by the very rich. Which Trump has just worsened. We're something like 65th in the world in income inequality. All of the gains made the last 40 years have gone to the top 10% and most of them to top 1%.

It is a gorilla only for those who believe that equality is desirable, which is a silly notion.

It is the same concept. What do you call unemployment benefits?

Not at all. Unemployment benefits are mailed to citizens who are not working, hanging around the house, because they were laid off. How is that like creating a job for that person and paying him to show up and do something all day? Apples and oranges.

I'm saying the government should be the employer of last resort in a re-revitalized social system based on the realities of pervasive robotization.

You can say it all you want but until you offer some arguments to support it, there's nothing for us to discuss. You're talking about taking people who have been replaced by robots, renting office space, putting them at desks, finding something for them to do, or just let them amuse themselves all day, and then giving them a paycheck. Give me an argument for doing that and I will engage it.
