>>What's this, January 5th and I'm already back to my old form, sheesh!)

Give yourself a little more credit. I was expecting you to be back to your old form on....January 8th.

On a slightly more serious note, I think Java probably won't do much in the end-user app market for a while because the bandwidth is just not there. Why run Java at 28,800 bps when you can waste 266Mhz Pentium II's on Office 97? Last I checked, the prices of 266Mhz Pentiums, which come w/ MS Office 97 "free", are dropping faster than the Korea Won. However, before you start foaming and liken me to Micrsoft pondscum, I think Java does currently have promise in the business world, especially for those people who can figure out how to utilize the telecomm upstarts such as Quest Communication's spanking brand new high bandwidth fiber lines.

Personally I would like to write a Java-based actuarial insurance modeling program that takes advantage of clustering and multi-processing, but that's for another lifetime...

RE: They simply got in over their heads and they have a programmer playing cheif technology officer.

You're kidding right? Andreeson is NOT a programmer. He is just the Nescape "Silicon Valley Entrepenuer" poster boy. A high priced marketing ploy (Agressive young engineer with new startup, etc.). Up here, we all know that he did not and does not write any code. Also, he has nobody working for him. His biggest claim to fame was declaring war on MSFT. Which makes him an idiot. Nobody spits in Bill "the $50M man" Gates' face.

All he has going for him is $$ (Was $100M at NSCP's high), now must be < $25M. Owww.

And as Andreeson has so aptly demonstrated, corpulence is close kin to opulence.
