Richard,

Welcome back. I hope you and your family had a great holiday.

I'm still in PAG. Looks like 24 has a lot of resistance. I was going to bail at 24 last week (?) but didn't. I still think its a good long term investment but am pondering a trade in here. What do ya think?

Thanks,

Peter :o)

-- I'm interested in capturing the dividend. And hoping the stock price falls by less than the dividend payment. Can someone tell me if the following plan would work:

1. Say Boykin Lodging (BOY) pays a 45 cent dividend to holders of record on 3/31/98.

2. T-3, for 3/31/98, is 3/26/98 (as 3/28 & 3/29 is the weekend).

3. Can I buy BOY on 3/26/98; sell BOY on 3/27/98, and capture the 45 cent dividend?

4. If this is wrong, or seems illogical in any way, please let me know before I screw this up.

Thanks.

Welcome back Richard and thanks for the reponse. I agree that as this bull market ages, it makes more sense to trade the reits. Also, this market is short term over bought and needs a rest. Interesting that the reits have not kept pace with the percentage move in the long rate and like the general market, may have decoupled. However, there are some reits that I like for the longish term where the managements are very good. Those stocks are PAG, LXP, HME, SIZ(safe, slow and high yield), JDN, UMH(consolidating), SEA, CLP, CPT, & OAIC. Your thoughts an the above stocks would be appreciated.
Regards...George
