It is interesting that a huge company like BMY has only announced an outside contractor for their Plant Y2K work. BMY has no other Y2K contracts announced yet. I wonder if multi-national companies in general do not have the resources to handle Y2K issues outside of their office systems? Since BMY is sensitive to the Y2K risks, they appear to be hanling the office systems internally while they need help with their manufacturing systems asessments.

A gentleman in the newsgroup, comp.software.year-2000
says companies he's working with have found that their embedded systems fixes will cost 6-15 times more than their IT systems.
This person uses his real name, has a real e-mail address, and is associated with a real company. If anyone is interested go to the newsgroup and look for the subject line beginning with "Embedded Systems"
