"the CA solution is to just worry about and take care of itself" I would say ourselves and the part of the world not named the USA. I'm thinking we can put a border adjustment tax on all the produce we export to the US, and use it to help climate refugees or something. Can it be done? Will all the red welfare states surviving on Calif taxes let their gravy train roll out of the station? I dunno. Maybe we'll have to petition the UN. First, tho, it has to make it to the ballot.

Quebec was close... but the attitude their has drastically changed... The rationale was different also.. it was cultural... The separatist party covered the spectrum of social policy... the culture was the unifying bond... They have become more and more fragmented as peoples attitudes change and the French become more secure in their own skin... OTOH... maybe the entire West Coast (Oregon Country has half of BC initially anyway :)) and the North East (and Alaska) should just merge with Canada :)) The Cultural ties between the North East and Quebec/Ontario are still strong... maybe stronger than with our own Western provinces.. not as strong as when I was a kid but strong none the less..

I would view the CA solution the plan B emergency chute. Have you ever had an addict in your life? You can't fix them; at some point, you will realize you will go down with them if you don't get out. You don't tell them FU, you finally reconcile that you can't save them but you can save yourself. The ones you leave behind deserved to be saved, but only THEY can do it. And a regime that proposes to loot another country (for expense WE created) certainly would come after them with all guns blazing, not wanting to lose the gravy boat they are using to subsidize the rest of the country. I should add we are not anywhere close to the point where leaving is the only remaining option. Remember H. received the more votes, and I believe that in the younger, largely didn't bother to vote generation, they are even more heavily leaning center or left of center.
