It shouldn't just apply to global warming.

With smoking someone selling something claiming it healthy for the purchaser/user is committing fraud. But that argument is rather weak once the Surgeon General's warning was required and every legal sale included specific claims that the product was unhealthy.

With global warming there never was even that case. The state AG's attacks on Exxon-Mobil and others are all about shutting up people they don't like and disagree with.
