Too early to tell. Takes time to turn a big ship. The way things stand, by simply accepting Russia's position Trump would have to confront our - and European - entire political spectrums, including, probably, large segments of the military establshment - while getting nothing in return. I do not think that Russia is in an expansionary mode at this time, but it wouldn't hurt to maintain some pressure in order to keep it that way.

Russia has invaded Ukraine more times that Islam has invaded Europe. It will always be this way. Kiev is mostly Russian. I've never met a Ukrainian that has anything good to say about Russians. Russians I know think Ukrainians are mostly village idiots.

Kiev Governorate was an administrative division of the Russian Empire and Ukraine in 1796 until the Soviet administrative reform of the 1920s. It was considered to be a Little Russian (Ukrainian) governorate due to majority of population speaking in Little Russian dialect.
