Do you really think we would be seriously contemplating a wall were in not for the illegal alien problem?

All one needs to do to control the borders, if we really want to, is to start fining and putting employers who hire illegals in jail. Illegal employment would disappear, and we'd pay a lot more for groceries and many other items.

Actually, the law could not be enforced at that time because there was no money with which to enforce it.

Do you have any further info on why it wasn't funded? I wasn't paying attention post enactment. I just noticed years later that nothing had happened.
