Today's Wall Street Journal article on HP's new <$800 MMX PC.

Closing paragraphs:

"Our goal is to be No. 1 in this category," of sub-$1,000 computers, said Webb McKinney, general manager of H-P's home products division. Mr. McKinney added Intel's massive inventories also will enable H-P to keep up with anticipated heavy demand for the sub-$800 computers. "We can't afford to get into a situation where we can't get supply," he said.

While both Cyrix and AMD have met demands for their chips to date, Mr. McKinney said their ability to provide massive volumes of low-end chips for H-P is still untested, while Intel's capacity as a supplier is well-proven.

Sounds like Intel is definitely going to the cacheless Pii for low-cost systems in Q3.

Joe, Could be they will offer the K6-200 for $799, the MediaGX 220 for $899 and the K6-233 for $999....so as to keep the linearity of the Megahertz. I've put a number of product lines together myself but I'd question that one.
