Janice, you have been posting to me for only a day and I am already quite tired of you. I answered your first post because it was innocuous, and I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt. There is a genuine attempt at detente on these threads, and I hoped you were moved by its spirit, and that you had come over here to Feelings on your best behavior, but obviously nothing has changed about you.

Just to go over a few things specifically in one post, because I don't want to waste any more time on this:

1. Michael Hakeem, Ph.D. is an emeritus professor of sociology at the University of Wisconsin. If you want to criticize his ideas, fine, go ahead, but try refuting actual points he makes, so we can all follow along. If you can find something negative about his reputation that is concrete, go ahead and post that, too, but don't just smear him based on the fact that I used him as a source. It's a cheap shot.

2. Freddy is a big boy, and can take care of himself, intellectually. If you have some actual knowledge or original ideas to add to a discussion, that is valid, but just jumping in with nothing to be on whatever side I am not doesn't flatter you. You have misquoted me, in that I did not pretend to "make a study" of the Nazis, which is more serious than the reading I did, but I have taken a normal number of courses and read a normal number of articles and books, and certainly can hold my own in a discussion. I always go out of my way to make it clear whether I am just giving my unlearned opinion, which is my right, or asking a question, or presuming to actually know a little about a subject. I am certainly not presenting myself as an expert on anything. Your "cretinous" slur is particularly offensive.

3. I have never thought that everyone should always do exactly as I wish in my company, or think the way I do on any subject. I am plenty self-deprecating about my own positions, and am usually able to discuss them in a civilized way that eludes you. We were talking about a new state law on smoking, if you will recall, not some personal dictate that I had thrown out to the masses, and in any event I am certainly entitled to have political positions, just as is everyone else.

I am confident that you will soon find something better to do than to chase me around SI. But just to clarify the situation, I find your posts to me offensive, in that you are insulting and harassing me, and I am formally requesting that you do not post to me or about me, and that includes your mean-spirited parodies of my posts and my writing style.

The Feelings thread is a free-speech area, obviously, as is the rest of SI, but you need to memorize the terms of use and abide by them here, because I will definitely pursue this if you don't stop your offensive behavior.

"Liquorice" is not the preferred spelling of the word, incidentally.

Now I will go back to ignoring you.
