On second thought, Matsushita (Panasonic) and Mitsubishi are ill-advised partners to Zenith/LGE since they, already, have a strong US CE presence. Best choice for a Japanese partner is NTT. NTT is partnered with Microware (ZE STB partner) to deliver STBs to Hong Kong. NTT has more yen to spend that every CE company.....combined.

Bob, your speculation on alliances are very good.

But how realistic are they? For instance, why didn't Sony consider
Zenith? Are they two different camps?

About your statements: "Kevin Brindley, IR spokesperson and Asst.
Treasurer and Roger Cregg, CFO, are remaining in Glenview
during the CES to work on something "BIG", according to Glenview sources."

Were you able to talk to someone at Zenith regarding this?

Also: any possibility that ZE could narrow losses this Q?
Better still, a modest profit. Didn't they say they delivered
some STBS to Americast? Is it true, there is some price appreciation in high-end TVs?
