WCII in H&Q's Telecom Equipment Sector report from yesterday:

============

Winstar is expected to report on 1/25 at 1:00pm PDT
Est. Revenues: $28.4MM
Est. EPS: <$2.40>
Rating: Buy

 WinStar's December quarter seems well on track to producing impressive results, in both quantitative and qualitative terms. We expect the company to beat our estimates of ($2.40) per share on $28.4 million revenues.

 Based on information from suppliers and customers, we are expecting WCII to announce impressive line growth stats.

 WinStar recently announced a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of MIDCOM Communications, a national long distance and frame relay service provider, for $92 million in cash. We believe the acquisition will accelerate WinStar's 1998 business plan by providing: improved network utilization, incremental revenues, expanded services, and additional customers.

 We believe that 1997 is the year that WinStar has focused on facilities, with considerable success, and that 1998 will be the year that the company focuses on revenues.

And sometimes you just get lucky!!

You guys want a fun stock to trade, check out McLeodUSA (MCLD). Lot of movement on fairly low vloume (100-200K shares). I bought yesterday AM for my first time ever on just a lark. Like the chart, looked very oversold, and looks like a good trading range from 31 to 41. Opened at 30 7/8, up 2 3/4 yesterday and 3 7/8 so far today to 37 1/2. Looks like maybe a good one to play up and down. Gives you something to do on these days when WinStar just sits around.

Teleport also up good today. These were the two other stocks (along with WinStar) rumored to be in AT&T's takeover scope. Wonder if rumors are starting to leak?
