He's eventually going to prison and will be disbarred. A couple of weeks ago Mitch McConnell said he was very disturbed by the new administration's continuing to make "unforced errors". This is an unforced of unimaginable proportions. Senator Al Franken merely asked Jeff Sessions under oath what he would do if evidence turned up that “anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government”. All Sessions had to say is he'd investigate, or recuse himself, or he'd decide that later, or excuse me Senator I have to go to the restroom right now. Now knowing Sessions had met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak twice during the campaign . . . . . . the way Jeff Sessions completely ignored the question and instead voluntarily committed perjury by claiming he personally didn't have contact with any representative of the Russian government and he didn't know of anyone else who did either, (and that might be a lie as well!) I've never seen anything like it. It's like he felt guilty and literally couldn't help himself. It's not like Jeff ran into Sergey at a party. He met with Kislyak at a specific time and place to discuss sanctions on Russia, a then to deny he had ever spoken with any Russian government representative! This would be a world of hurt for some guy off the street, but having prior legal experience virtually eliminates any defense against perjury. Sessions is an attorney, a prior State Attorney, prior Attorney General of Alabama, and Senator for ten years. As Attorney General he can try to fire anyone who moves to prosecute him until the statute of limitations runs out on his crime, and I'm not sure that it does. But this is going to get really messy because the AGs influence doesn't extend that far.
