Just came back from AMES, Natick store. Restocked slightly since I was last there. AMES bought some X'mas goods to do some clearance; I thought they should have been there before X'mas? Women's wear were slightly restocked. Appliances were slightly restocked. Men's and boy's were thin pickings. One rack left of men's outercoats.

Business and traffic continued to be good. Believe they wanted to have low inventory at the year end. But opportunity, opportunities are passing by. My only complaint is AMES store size and inventory density in the store which limits the revenue each year. 1998, they will have to work on density to catch up on revenues of Bradlees and Caldors, on a per store basis.

Since results will not be out until Febuary, taking out the weak hands now, seems too early. However, with the weak hands hanging on, the stock could never move above $20/share.
