Hi Patti, I posted another note just this afternoon with the year's results and my overall results (Post # 3752). I'm sorry to say that I've not made that magical Million yet with AIM's assistance, but I'm on my way to some pretty nice gains. Overall, my portfolio is up about 200% since 1990. Even though I started to convert my holdings to AIM accounts in January of 1988, it took me a while to figure out what to do with some of it. Some I combined into baskets of stocks, some I managed individually, and in 1990 I bought my first mutual funds. So, I've AIMed about every way there is. The highest cash reserve I've started with is about 80% and the lowest is 0.0%. Lots of times I will open an AIM account with zero cash to start with, under the assumption that I'm buying at the bottom of a price cycle. Usually I've been proved wrong and have had to add cash later on. However, usually it's been less than the 33% or 50% that Mr. L. suggested we use. My best performance is probably with VTSS right now. It's up about 400% since I started it about 4 years ago. It's been in the dog house recently, but is still a pretty nice stock for me. It only turned about 10% in 1997, so you can see that it did most its work earlier. I hope this helps a bit in your decision as to whether to start an AIM account of your own. As a "retired person" it sure helps me sleep well at night and gives me something to do during the days!!! :-) Please don't hesitate to ask for some help as you get started.
